The brief
Provide a soft natural surface for children to play and explore in a safe environment.
How we met the brief
The existing area was opened up to provide clear sight lines and opportunity for play and social gathering. The design promotes connection and also engages children with a generous open natural lawn and builds upon the existing shade canopies that provide the cooling of shade required for the hot summer days. A natural curvaceous rock river bed was also included in the design featuring endemic grass plants that provided a natural curious bush-style space for children to explore.
Client feedback
The green space has been very popular among the kids wanting to play sports and roam around in groups on the soft buffalo lawn. The rock river bed has also been great for kids who enjoy running through the rock pebbles and looking for lizards
